The phenomenon known as Oil Pulling has been all the health rage as of late. In case you haven’t heard about it on the news or on multiple health sites, the art of oil pulling consists of taking a tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil and swishing or “pulling” it around the mouth. Apparently it has been around for a while, but has resurfaced two-fold in the past year.
I admit when I saw an article about it I was definitely intrigued, but also very skeptical. But, not one to pass up trying new things I thought I would give it a try. Supposed health benefits include:
- Whiter Teeth
– Overall better gum health
– Fresher Breath
– Increase in Metabolism
– Boost in Energy
– Decrease in Allergies
– Clearer Skin
- Decrease in Asthma Symptoms
- Helps heal headaches, bronchitis, tooth pain, eczema, ulcers
– Helps with Chronic Sleeplessness
Coconut oil is also good for your skin and hair it can be used as a body lotion as it is a natural moisturizer for strands and on your hair for added shine!
It’s great for cooking and baking and has actually “been shown to help lower cholesterol levels due to its ability to stimulate thyroid function.”
